What Is an E27 Bulb?

An E27 bulb has a large Edison screw cap that is 27 mm across. It is the standard "big screw" fitting used in most rope, cage and industrial pendant lights sold in the UK. It is different from the smaller E14 (small screw) and the B22 bayonet fitting, so check the cap before you buy. Browse our E27 base bulbs, dimmable LED bulbs and vintage filament bulbs.

Hemp Rope Light Not Working? Quick Fixes

• No light: Check the bulb first, then the switch and fuse. Make sure the bulb is screwed fully into the E27 holder.
• Flickering: Usually a non-dimmable LED bulb on a dimmer, or a loose connection. Switch to a dimmable LED bulb that matches your dimmer.
• Rope fraying or shedding: Trim loose ends carefully and avoid pulling the rope. Light shedding on a new fitting is normal.
• Wiring: Turn off the power at the fuse box before installing. If you are unsure, use a qualified electrician.

Care and Safety

Dust the rope with a dry soft cloth or a vacuum brush attachment. Avoid water and harsh cleaners. Use LED bulbs, which run far cooler than old incandescent bulbs, and never exceed the maximum bulb wattage stated on the product page. Keep the bulb from touching the rope. Hemp rope fittings are designed for indoor, dry areas unless the product page says otherwise.
