How do I choose the right size pendant?

You should choose a pendant size based on the room size and ceiling height. Smaller rooms typically suit 20–40 cm pendants, medium spaces such as kitchen islands suit 30–50 cm pendants, and larger rooms can accommodate 50 cm or larger statement pendants.

How low should a pendant light hang?

A pendant light should typically hang 70–90 cm above a dining table or kitchen island, and at least 210 cm from the floor in walkways to ensure safe clearance and comfortable lighting.

Can pendant lights be used with a dimmer switch?

Yes, pendant lights can be used with a dimmer switch as long as the bulbs or LED drivers are dimmable and compatible with an LED-friendly dimmer switch.

How many pendants do I need for a kitchen island?

The number of pendants depends on the size of the kitchen island. Small islands typically use 1 pendant, medium islands use 2, and large islands use 3 evenly spaced pendants for balanced lighting.

How do I choose the right size pendant?

A simple way to choose the right pendant size is to consider room proportions. A common guideline is to add the room’s length and width in feet to estimate a suitable pendant diameter in inches, helping achieve balanced lighting within the space.
