Black, E27 & Bakelite Lamp Holders — Specification, Style & Safe Fitting
Our black lamp holders are precision-moulded for a heat-stable finish that works across pendant, café-rig, and track applications — available in thermoplastic and bakelite, tested to 2A / 250V. All versions accept E27 bulbs, the European standard base, with solid brass contacts and fully insulated terminals that hold under heat and vibration. Compatible with LED, CFL, and filament bulbs up to 60W, with a wiring diagram included.
For period and restoration projects, our bakelite variants use traditional compression moulding for an authentic finish that modern plastics don't match — fully compliant with current UK wiring regulations.
Before fitting, always isolate at the consumer unit, photograph existing wiring before disconnecting, and replace any holder showing heat discolouration rather than rewiring it. Significant rewiring in certain locations is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations — consult a qualified electrician if in doubt.
